The above 32nd Armored Regiment
band, pictured at Camp Polk in late 1941, would evolve into the
official 3rd Armored Division Band during WWII, although retaining
its 32nd AR name. When situations allowed, the band entertained
the troops and played at reviews and other ceremonies during
the Division's journeys from stateside training, to England,
then on to France, Belgium, and Germany. It's final performance
was on November 9, 1945, when the
3AD was formally deactivated at a VI Corps ceremony at Aalen,
Germany, about 75 miles east of Stuttgart. |
