1962: A Rare Night Launch of an Honest John by 3AD

A 12-mile range with a nuclear warhead, the M31
"Honest John" rocket (shown above at Grafenwoehr) had
arrived at the 3AD in Germany in 1957. A phase-out began in 1962
with the arrival of the new M50 version with a 30-mile range.
The Honest John was a free-flight artillery rocket, as opposed
to a guided missile. |
