Artist Renderings of new Ft. Benning Armor Center and School

With completion expected by late summer of 2010, this vast complex will be the new home of over 1,000 armored vehicles, including Abrams tanks, Stryker light armored vehicles, and Bradley fighting machines. Five primary buildings constitute the complex (not including the National Armor Museum), which covers roughly 250 acres and includes, for example, a 140,000 square-foot vehicle maintenance and instruction facility and a 90,000 square-foot administrative and technical equipment facility. With this move from Ft. Knox, the Armor Center and School will have a far more efficient and modernized base of operations that is planned to carry Army armor into the next century (yes, to the year 2,100 and beyond) with theoretical combat equipment still on the drawing boards.
