The Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, Germany, in 1994

  Below is the only remaining portion of the famous WWII bridge that was captured by the U.S. 9th Armored Division on March 7, 1945. Subsequently it was used in a mass crossing of the Rhine by elements of the U.S. First Army, including several units of the 3AD. Most of Spearhead, however, crossed the river by way of a pontoon bridge at Honnef, south of Cologne.
