Will never forget this day, the place, and
what I was doing when I learned that the war was over. What a
day! A day we have all been waiting for. I was on guard duty
at the time when about 11:00 a.m. Paul Lubke came and gave me
the good news. May 8th - a day which will go down in history.
Germany surrenders!!
Now that the war is over here in Germany,
we all wonder whether we will go home soon, stay awhile as occupational
troops, or go to the Pacific where that war is still going on.
